Everyone wants to know the answer to the simple question: How do I make some extra money?  Whether it’s for a new car, a nicer house, or a little more financial stability, there are certain general guidelines to follow when you start your quest for an added income.

First of all, don’t believe in get rich quick schemes!  If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.  I’m not saying there are no ways to get rich quick… I’m just saying if you’re interested in making extra money, know that it will require some serious hard work.  However, this hard work won’t seem like hard work if you follow my next step.

In order to make extra money, I highly recommend trying to monetize something you already love to do.  For example, I like writing, so I decided to start writing online articles and promoting them.  Eventually I plan on monetizing through advertising, hence making some extra money.  Like I said, making extra money is not easy, and requires hours and hours of work, so why not commit these hours to something you enjoy?

Now that you have chosen a way to monetize something you love, don’t expect money to come in over night! This is most definitely the biggest mistake to make when learning how to make extra money.  I will say again (catching a trend here?) that making extra money takes hard work!  As hard as it will be, don’t look at two days or even two months out.  Have yearly goals and focus attention and effort for the entire period of time.  You will see results, I promise!

Your probably thinking, enough with all the self motivation talk, give me some real ideas!

If you are having trouble deciding where to start, here are some ideas for you to begin with:

Start A Blog – A blog allows you to write about something you love, while monetizing by selling advertising space.  This is what I personally am pursuing right now.  (In case you didn’t catch on to that, hehe)

Babysitting/Nannying -  You would be very surprised at how profitable this can be.  If you love being around kids, this may be a great way for you to earn some extra money.

Sell Things On Craigslist or Ebay – Have some junk layin around?  Sell it! With the increased use of the internet, it has becoming increasingly easy to monetize what you think as garbage.

Recycle – Like the environment?  Why not plan a recycling strategy?  Save up your cans and plastic and see what extra money comes in..

Walk Dogs – Are you a pet lover?  Why not get paid to hang out with some furry friends?

These are just a few ideas to start you out as you learn how to make extra money.  They are meant to show the process of finding something you like, then finding out how to monetize it.
